Is that opening sentence a strawman, or have you just been talking to some really confusing people?
It’s been almost 30 years since I first found a group of “pro BDSM” people from whom I learned about the world —several of whom were female doms— and not once in all that time have I ever heard someone seriously argue for the existence of parity in the populations of male and female doms.
Conventional wisdom has always held that male submissives make up the majority of kinky people. It’s possible the numbers have shifted a bit over the decades as online porn and outlets like Tumblr have given girls a vocabulary for talking about things that had long been the primary domain of men… but that might just mean there are more female submissives than we thought, not more doms.
With that said, female doms are cool people. They do indeed exist, much to the unending gratitude of subby straight boys and squirmy little queer chicks. Quit trying to erase them.
And I assure you, you are mistaken… all men are not dominant. Not even close. Ninety-six percent of submissives are not female, not even close. The real world is far more complicated than that.
Oh, and as a woman, you’re right, you don’t need to accept anything. Be whatever you want to be. Just don’t be a dick about it.
