I don’t shave because I don’t need to – my body hair doesn’t cause any discomfort, it doesn’t make me unattractive, and it sure as hell doesn’t make me unprofessional, even though I’ve been told that at work before. My body hair is clean, just like the hair on my head. In fact I’d go so far as to say my hair is beautiful. But even so, the (misogynist) culture of prepubescent clean is thick in the air. Loving my body the way that it came is revolutionary, and it’s hard. It’s an ongoing struggle, and even though I work at it every single day.

I’m glad you’re doing what you want with your body. I hope you and your verdant underbrush find pride and meaning in your struggle.
