For my purposes? I suppose humiliation is “intentionally provoking shame through a violation of personal standards”, while degradation is “an intentional lowering of status through a violation of societal standards”.
Or put another way, there are things that are humiliating without automatically being degrading —forcing a girl to go out to dinner without makeup— and things that are degrading without necessarily being humiliating, like forcing a privileged girl to scrub floors.
