Questions and Answers

Hi! Will you move to bdsmlr? I really don’t want to miss your post in the future! <3

I don’t plan to move anywhere… until something better comes along, I’ll be right here. (SPOILER ALERT: There is nothing better at this time.)

With that said, yeah, I’ve created a bdsmlr account. (Unlikely to be used.) I’ve created an Ello account. (Cool place for photos. But it’s a shitty place for reading and writing, at least in-app.) I’m already a longstanding, non-participating member of FetLife. I’ve had a Twitter account attached to this blog for ages. (Almost completely unused.) The other popular suggestions among refugees —Instagram, Snapchat, Sharesome, Pillowfort— are all either photo-oriented and terrible for text, kinda scammy, or, in the case of Pillowfort, a noble effort that isn’t going to be viable anytime soon.

If you want to leave Tumblr but don’t want to miss anything I post, I’d strongly suggest you install an RSS app like Inoreader or Feedly. Then subscribe to my blog; hell, subscribe to everyone you’ll miss. You can cancel your Tumblr account in protest or whatever, and still keep up with everything we’re doing here.

For the record, this is what my blog looks like in Inoreader:

Honestly, the best scenario for a community like this is a combination of stand-alone (WordPress, etc.) blogs and an RSS reader like Inoreader that includes reblogging —they call it Broadcasting— support. That way the content creators keep their uncensored stuff out of a corporate data silo, and followers can still share material among themselves.
