- Do you become aroused by your own stories?
- Would you label yourself a sadist? And if so, are you more of an emotional sadist or physical? (…I think I already know)
- How do you manage to create such a strong persona through your writing???? When I read anything you have written it’s like I can see and hear you saying it.. or maybe that says more about me than you
1. When they’re still just ideas, sure; not as much, once they’re out of my head and on the screen in front of me.
2. I fit some descriptions of a sadist, and it makes for useful shorthand on the internet, but it’s not ultimately how I see myself. Physically, I more or less think of myself as a bully for girls who like to feel small. And emotionally, well, I just think of myself as a tinkerer; instead of puttering in the garage, I crawl around in your head, learning what all the buttons and switches do. It’s not necessarily *painful*, but it can feel intensely invasive, watching someone vivisect your psyche with a gleam in his eye.
3. The existence of recordings of my voice could have something to do with it. Beyond that? I dunno. Everything I write is treated as if it’s going to be read aloud, or performed for a small crowd. I’m always thinking about voices and how they inform word choices. I suppose that could be a factor.
