I told them.
It was kind of unavoidable. I was in my early 20s, still living at home, and didn’t appear to be dating, until I suddenly had a girl moving from another state to be with me… everyone was confused. And no one had heard of that “internet” thing yet, so the whole relationship required tons of explanation.
You think your parents are skeptical when you meet up with someone you found online in the 21st century? Try it back when Kurt Cobain was still alive… I got a lot of “are you making this up?” looks.
